Obituary

Miriam Janderup Dalton, 95 , died on March 31, 2018 . Mrs. Dalton was a resident of Holmdel and former resident of Woodbridge, Mantoloking, and Iselin. Mrs. Dalton and her husband, Gerard, had also resided part of the year at their home in Vero Beach, Florida.

Miriam was born in Woodbridge and was a graduate of Woodbridge High School. She was later employed by the F.B.I. and New Jersey Bell Telephone Company prior to her marriage. Mrs. Dalton's community contributions were an important part of her life. She was President of the Women's Club of Woodbridge as well as the Junior League. She also was a member of the Federated Women's Clubs. Mrs. Dalton supported the area hospitals through her volunteer work as the first President of the Woodbridge Chapter of the Perth Amboy Hospital Guild and member of the JFK Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Dalton was active in the schools that her children attended. She was President of the St. Mary's High School P.T.A. in Perth Amboy and a member of the Amboy Region P.T.A.

She enjoyed golf and was a former member of the Vero Beach Golf Association.

Mrs.Dalton is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Noreen and Jerry Cohen, Mission Viejo, CA, Diane and John Fox, Colonia, Peggy and Anthony Kolasa, Fernandina Beach, FL and Judy and Tom Leahy, Colonia. She was devoted to her nine grandchildren: Brian Scott, Kathleen Keller, Susan Cervantes, Amanda Renzi, Eric Kolasa, Kevin Kolasa, Amy Kolasa, Courtney Walsh, and Bill Leahy. She was blessed with seventeen great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Gerard, and her parents Paul and Rose Janderup and her sister Arlene Leahy.

Miriam was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. Her family was always the center and love of her life. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Funeral services will be on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Entombment will be in Saint Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
