Mildred Swierk Dikun passed away on Wednesday November 13, 2013 at the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, NJ. Born in Rahway, she has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township since 1954. Milly retired as a secretary from East Jersey State Prison in Avenel and previously worked at the Woodbridge Township Board of Education. After graduating Rahway High School she worked for Merck and Company in Rahway and New York City. She was a communicant of Saint Andrew Church in Avenel. Mrs. Dikun was predeceased by her husband, John Dikun, in 1994; a sister, Stella Safchinksy; and four brothers, Julius, Stanley, Edward and Benjamin Swierk. Surviving are three sons, John W. Dikun and his wife, Ann Marie, of Plainfield, David G. Dikun and his wife, Krystyna, of Linden and Leonard S. Dikun of Avenel; a sister, Wanda Such; two granddaughters, Dana Flynn and Melissa Ward; and two great grandchildren, Sadie and Shea. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 9:45 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge, NJ.
