Mildred A. Brannigan passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at her home in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township. She was 71 years old. Born in Perth Amboy, she has resided in Port Reading for the past 10 years. Mrs. Brannigan was employed as a manager with Shop-Rite of Woodbridge for 28 years before retiring in 2012. She was predeceased by a son, Gerald Brannigan, in 1997. Surviving are a son, Michael Brannigan, of Sewaren; a daughter, Kathy Chavan and her husband, Ricky, of Colonia; a sister, Phyllis "Bunny" Vargo and her husband, James, of Brick; a brother, Joseph Laguardia and his wife, Tina, of Sacremento, CA; six grandchildren, Joseph, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Jessica and Julia; and her dear friend, Mae Wu. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 8:45 p.m. at the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. Visitation will be on Thursday beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
