Michael Dennis Tenpenny passed away on Tuesday December 9, 2025. He was 31 years old.

Born on March 29, 1994, in Perth Amboy to Dennis Tenpenny and Asta Riporti, he was a lifelong resident of the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township.

Michael was a graduate of John F. Kennedy Memorial High School, Class of 2012. He was a four-year varsity letter winner in football, earning All Division, All Area and First Team All-Middlesex County honors in 2011. He was nominated to the North South State All Star game where he started for the South squad. Michael then took his talents to Montclair State University where he had an outstanding career and was named team Captain before earning a B.A. in Criminal Justice in 2016

Michael served as an officer in the Patrol Division of the Woodbridge Township Police Department for the past seven years; and was a member of their SWAT Team; and belonged to Policeman's Benevolent Association Local 38, Woodbridge.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, William and Marie Tenpenny.

Michael is survived by his mother, Asta Riporti, of Iselin; father, Dennis Tenpenny, of Iselin; brother, Brandon Tenpenny, of Iselin; maternal grandparents, Michael and Asta C. Riporti of Iselin; aunts, Michelle Reinoso his godmother and her husband, Anthony, Liesl Hermanns and her husband Steve, Wendy Witkowski and her husband, Walter, Doreen Kurtz and her husband, Robert, and; uncles, Michael Riporti and his wife Christine , William Tenpenny his godfather and his wife, Maryann and; cousins, William, Jr., Nicholas, Vinny, Joey, Eric, Adam, Cody, A.J., Gianna and his God-daughter Luciana; and his French bulldogs, Ella and Milla, and extended family.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday December 15, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street Woodbridge, NJ 07095.

Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday December 16, 2025 at 9:15 a.m. at the Funeral Home.  A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Colonia. Interment will follow at Saint Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
