Michael Serak passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center in Edison. He was 95 years old.

Born in Woodbridge on October 15 1927 to the late Barbara and Charles Serak, he resided in the Fords section of Woodbridge Township for many years before recently moving to Edison.

He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Serak was employed as an operating engineer with PSE&G at their Sewaren generating facility before retiring in 1990.

He belonged to Saint John's Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy and belonged to Saint John's Social Club and T. Nulty Post 471, American Legion in Iselin. Mr. Serak demonstrated his belief in the power of community through his many hours of service.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Serak was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Ann Serak, in 1969; sisters, Helen Serak in 1982, Anna Serak in 2013, Mary Talabiska in 2014 and Barbara Kmech in 2020; and brother, John Serak, in 2014.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 67 years, Philomena Caroccia Serak; daughters, Barbara Peterson and her husband, Norman, of Glen Gardner, Loretta McNamara and her husband, Peter, of Manahawkin and Rose Richter and her husband, Alan, of Ocean City; grandchildren, Norman Peterson, Michael Peterson, Peter McNamara and Melissa Campbell; great grandchildren, Norman, Evelyn, Wesley, Luke and Holden; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge followed by services at 10:00 a.m. at Saint John's Orthodox Church in Perth Amboy. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Parastas services at 7:30 p.m.
