Michael J. Prongay passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at his home in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township. He was 52 years old.

He was born in Rahway and has lived in Colonia since 1993.

A 1982 graduate of Colonia High School, Mr. Prongay was retired from MJP Distributing in Colonia, where he worked as a salesman.

He was former president and coach for Colonia Pop Warner Football and coached for Little Fellows League of Colonia.

He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Josephine Donofrio Prongay and his in-laws Donald and Joan Lenart Smith.

Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Diane Smith Prongay; a daughter, Brittany Nicole; sisters, Susan Ladd and her husband, George, and Patricia Chamberlain and her husband, Robert; brothers, Robert and his wife, Karen, Thomas and his wife, Denise, and Stephen and his wife, Antoinette; sister in law, Donna Phillips and her husband, John; brothers in law, Danny Smith and his wife, Amira, and Donald Smith; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home ( www.costello-greiner.com ), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, Colonia. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
