Michael T. Myszka of the Avenel Section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital at Rahway. He was 98 years old. Born in Elizabeth NJ; He resided in Avenel for the past 60 years. Mr. Myszka was a United States Army Veteran serving in World War II. He was employed in the Assembly operations department at Singer Sewing Machine Company in Elizabeth for 43 years retiring in 1980. Mr. Myszka was a Communicant of St. Andrew's R.C. Church in Avenel where he served as an usher for many years; as well as a longtime member and past president of the Middlesex County Holy Name Society and a member of the St. Andrew's Knights of Columbus. He played baseball for Jefferson High School in Elizabeth and was a long-time player and manager of the semi-pro Elizabethport Question Marks, leading them to a number of state championships. This led to him being inducted into both the Union County Baseball Hall of Fame and the Elizabeth Athletic Hall of Fame. He also served as a scout for The Cincinnati Reds and was a past president of The Union County Baseball Association. He was predeceased by his parents Michael Myszka and Karoline Nakoneczna Myszka; his wife of 52 years, Agnes Cierpial Myszka who passed away in 2002; Four Brothers Joseph, Stanley, Julius and Anthony Myszka. He is survived by three sons Dr. Michael T. Myszka (Kathryn) of Nashville, TN, Thomas E. Myszka of Cleveland, and Robert J. Myszka of Avenel; two grandchildren Jamie Myszka and Jonah Powers-Myszka. Funeral will take place Thursday 8:45 a.m. from COSTELLO-GREINER FUNERAL HOME (www.Costello-greiner.com) 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will follow at St. Andrew's R.C. Church in Avenel. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Linden.
