Michael J. Lasek, Sr. passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 68 years old.

He was born in Elizabeth and has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township since 1976.

Mr. Lasek was employed as a auto body technician with Lee's Auto Body in Avenel for 25 years until retiring in 2015.

He was a classic car and salt water fishing enthusiast.

Surviving are his fiance, Joann Turon; sons, Michael J. Lasek, Jr. and his wife, Jeannie, of Toms River, Timothy Lasek and his wife, Michele, of Hazlet and Jason Lasek and his wife, Jaclyn, of Lebanon Township; sister, Peggy Salamunia, of Port Monmouth; nephews, Keith and Nicholas Salamunia; and grandchildren, Sean, Colin, Emma, Ella, and Abby.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. Interment will follow in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) in Mr. Lasek's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
