Michael "Goo-Goo" Daniele passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 88 years old. He was born in and a lifelong resident of the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township. Mike was employed with the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department in New Brunswick for many years before his retirement in 1990; and worked for many years on the railroad in Port Reading. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War; a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading, where he served as an usher; and was a former Chief and former Fire Commissioner for Port Reading Fire Company #1. Goo-Goo would take the train on Saturdays to Monmouth Park Racetrack as well as the bus on many Wednesdays with the Carteret VFW; and was an avid fan of the New York Rangers, Jets and Yankees. Mike was predeceased by his brother, Anthony "Hutchie" Daniele; sisters, Rachel Mellilo, Antoinette Toth and Louise Daniele; sister in law, Olga Daniele; brother in law, Andrew Toth; and nephew, Andrew Toth. Surviving are nieces, Phyllis Masarik and her husband, Kevin, and Teresa Galanek; great nieces, Allison Masarik and her fiancé, Daniel Sharkey, Gabrielle Lenton and Johann Galanek; and great great niece, Madelyn Grace. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 436 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge. Interment will follow at Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.
