Melanie Carbone passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at her home in Woodbridge. She was 47 years old.

Born on September 8, 1977 in Brooklyn, NY, she resided there, before moving to Woodbridge 20 years ago.

Mrs. Carbone earned her Bachelors and Master's degrees from the College of Staten Island and was employed as a teacher at P.S. 32 in Brooklyn and P.S. 35 in Staten Island and later returned to P.S. 32 in Brooklyn as Assistant Principal prior to her retirement.

She was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge; and loved reading, music, sports and, especially, time spent with her family.

She was predeceased by her mother, Karen Maikisch Gaeta.

Surviving are her loving husband of 20 years, Darren J. Carbone; children, Samantha Carbone of Colonia, Darren J. Carbone, Jr. of Staten Island, NY, Sabrina Carbone of Woodbridge and Jake Carbone of Woodbridge; father, Michael Gaeta, of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Melissa Derleth, of Pittsford, NY; and beloved granddaughter, Aaliyah Walker.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Cremation will be private. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
