Matthew James Mauro passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. He was forty-eight years old.

Born in Jersey City on January 11, 1974, he resided in Carteret before moving to Middletown.

Matthew was a graduate of Rutgers College, and has been employed as Project Manager with EXCEL Environmental Resources, Inc. in North Brunswick for many years.

He was devoted to his family, friends, job, and to environmental causes. Matthew dedicated his life to putting others first and helping them in every way he possibly could. He lived his life to the fullest and always saw the best in everyone and everything.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Richard and Geraldine Mauro, of Carteret, his sister Teresa Gotti and her husband James, of Colonia; his brother Christopher Mauro and his wife, Jennifer, of Red Bank; his nephew Jake; nieces, Zoe, Aria, Isla and Harlow; and loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Hazel Wood Cemetery, Clark. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.

In lieu of flowers contributions to the World Wildlife Fund (worldwildlife.org) or any charitable organization (such as the Arbor Day Organization) with a positive effect on the environment in Matthew's memory would be appropriate and greatly appreciated by his family. He would love it if you planted a tree to remember him.
