Matteo Giordano, Jr. passed away on Monday May 24, 2021. He was 89 years old.
Born in the Sewaren section of Woodbridge Township, he resided there for 66 years before moving to Toms River and then to Edison.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was employed for many years as a crane operator for US Metals in Carteret until his retirement.
He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Giordano; parents, Catherine and Matteo Giordano Sr.; sisters, Florence and her husband Joseph Suhay, Philomena Glusczyk and Annette Giordano; brothers, Jack, Ralph, Joseph and Anthony Giordano; mother in law and father-in-Law, Elizabeth and John Matyi; brothers in Law, Richard Matyi, Steve Matyi and William Smith; and sisters in law, Sarah Giordano and Elsie Matyi.
Surviving are his sons, Matteo Giordano III and his wife, Lynn, and Gary Giordano; granddaughters, Jennifer and her husband, Clemente Cecere and Ashley and her husband, Tim McCutcheon; grandson, Christopher and his wife, Jackie Arold; great grandsons, Caden Cecere, Benjamin Arold and Theodore Arold; great granddaughters, Madison McCutcheon and Nora Cecere; sister, Carmella Giordano; brothers, Michael Giordano and his wife, Donna and Jack Giordano and his wife, Gail; sisters in law, Lillian Smith and Janet Hoff and her husband, Greg; and brother in law, John Matyi and his wife, Carol.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Port Reading. Entombment will be at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, US Route 1 North, Woodbridge.
In Lieu of Flowers, contributions to The American Lung Association ( http://www.lung.org ) in Mr. Giordano's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
