Mary Elizabeth Clare Samarya passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. She was 89 years old.

Born in Albany, NY to the late Mary and Francis Clare, she has resided in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township since 1962.

Mrs. Samarya worked for Bell Telephone in New York and New Jersey in the 1950s, and more recently was a bus aide with Villani Bus Company in Carteret. She volunteered for decades at the St. James School library in Woodbridge and was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Samarya was predeceased by her sister, Rose Mary Krug, and her beloved husband, Jacob M. "Jake" Samarya on December 13, 2022.

Surviving are her daughters, Donnamarie Samarya, of Oxford, PA and Michele Samarya-Timm and her husband, Andy, of Franklin Park.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel.  A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Entombment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
