Mary Muir passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at her home in Rahway. She was 94 years old.

Born in Dickson, PA on June 23, 1929 to the late Mary and Louis Latka, she has resided in Rahway since 1962.

Mrs. Muir began working at Shop-Rite of Clark after raising her five boys into their teens and was employed there for 47 years before retiring on February 9th of this year.

Mary was a communicant of Saint Mary's Church, Divine Mercy Parish in Rahway. She was also a serious fan of Mickey Mouse, the Boston Red Sox and Scottie dogs.

Along with her late husband, Mary loved crafting of many kinds, including pottery and wood creations; as well as hosting the family every Christmas.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Muir was predeceased by her loving husband, Thomas Muir, in 2007; sisters, Julia Barsocchi and Katherine Latka; Brothers, Louis Latka, Leo Latka and Thomas Latka; and precious granddaughter, Amy Muir.

Surviving are her sons, Thomas, James and his wife Margaret, John and his wife, Mary Alice, Stephen and his wife, Jill, and Robert; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church, Devine Mercy Parish in Rahway. Interment will be in the church cemetery in Clark. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
