Mary Mazar passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. She was 89 years old. Born in Perth Amboy, she has resided in the Avenel of Woodbridge Township for most of her life. She was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, class of 1942. Mrs. Mazar was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel; and a member of Golden Circle, Avenel Senior Citizens. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Mazar, in 2007; two sisters, Ann Herczku and Helen Pintenich; and two brothers, Joseph and Emery Herceg. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen A. Mazar and Marian Mazar; a son, Ronald J. Mazar and his wife, Rebecca; two grandchildren, Daria Miller and Joseph Mazar; and a step-grandson, Michael McGee. Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (www.costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Entombment will be in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
