Mary was born in Perth Amboy on November 29, 1925, to the late Mary (Curtis) and Joseph Compell. Mary was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, class of 1943. She resided in Woodbridge since 1948.
Mrs. Geardino had various jobs throughout her long life. When in high school, she was part of the WWII effort on the home front, writing out ration cards in her impeccable cursive handwriting. She also worked at National Lead, Richmond Radiator and a number of other places. Her best job (according to her grandchildren) was working at Knickerbocker Toys in the 1980s.
In her youth, Mary loved to roller skate with her sister Rose. Many years later she told stories of her roller-skating days to friends and family. From the 1960s through 1980s, Mary enjoyed spending time in the Poconos with her extended family at their vacation home on Lake Naomi. She always enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud with Steve Harvey. Mary also kept her mind sharp by being an avid reader, doing word search and sudoku puzzles. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Geardino was predeceased by her husband Theodore in 1974. She was also predeceased by her brothers, infant Andrew, John and George Compell, sisters Catherine Hansen and Rose Marek and sons-in-law John Barcellona and James (Jim) Jetko.
Surviving are her four children, Patricia (Pat) Geardino Jetko, Donna Geardino Barcellona, Theodore (Ted) Geardino Jr and Cathlin (Cathy) Salamon, Randy and Janet Geardino; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Barcellona, Anthony and Amanda Barcellona and their children Wyatt, Daisy and Lincoln, Adam and Kristen Barcellona and their daughter Gwendolyn, Kyle and Anastasia Geardino and their children Lukah, Ben and Josie, Tori Geardino and her boyfriend Jordan Vazquez, Theodore (Teddy) Geardino III, Joseph (Joey) Geardino and Spencer Geardino; and beloved extended family.
Funeral services were private under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge.
In lieu of flowers contributions to We Feed Woodbridge, Two George Frederick Plaza, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 in Mrs. Geardino's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
