Mary Barna, 96, of Woodbridge, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024, at home, lovingly surrounded by her family. Born in Carteret, she resided in Woodbridge for the past 54 years with her family. Mary worked at RCA in Avenel and Merck in Rahway before becoming a full-time caregiver to her family. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carteret, where she served many terms as an Elder and Deacon.

She was predeceased by her husband Michael Barna, and brothers John and Michael Matey. Surviving are her four daughters, Michele O'Connor and husband Kevin of Metuchen, Maryann Cook and husband Brian of Woodbridge, Melanie Dwyer and her husband John of Myrtle Beach, and Melissa Barna of Metuchen. She was a loving grandmother to Jonathan Cook and wife Holly, Megan Arias, Joseph Arias, Shane Dwyer, and Laney Dwyer. She was blessed to be a great grandmother to Alexander and Leonidas Cook.

Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm Monday, Jan. 8 at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green St. Woodbridge (www.costello-greiner.com). Funeral services will take place at 10:00am Tuesday Jan. 9 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Carteret Memorial Fund, 83 Carteret Ave., Carteret, NJ 07008.
