Obituary

Marjorie Piasta passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy Division. She was 80 years old.

She was born in Kingston, PA on June 29, 1941 to the late Joseph Walcavage and Sue Marrash. She was a resident of the Avenel section of Woodbridge since 1971.

Mrs. Piasta was a graduate of Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Kingston, Pennsylvania and was employed as a nurse in the special care nursery at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield for over 30 years before her retirement.

She was a communicant of Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Avenel where she belonged to the Altar Rosary Society and Saint Vincent DePaul Society. She was a former officer with the Golden Circle, Avenel Seniors and was a Seton Hall University Basketball fan and season ticket holder. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and movies, but her greatest joy came from spending time and sharing laughter with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life husband, Daniel J. Piasta,  on November 14, 2021 and son in law, George Zweidinger, in 2014.

Surviving are her daughters: Suzanne Kozub and her husband, Christopher, of Woodbridge, Marjorie Flynn and her husband, Gene, of Avenel and Kimberly Zweidinger of Rahway; sister, Carol Walcavage, of Forty Fort, PA; grandchildren, Brandon, Alexis and Makenzie Zweidinger, Daniel and Sophie Kozub, Ryan and Shane Flynn; and her beloved dog, Sammie.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, February 4, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church, Avenel. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Saint Andrew's Catholic Church or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital in Mrs. Piasta's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
