Marion Anderson of Woodbridge was born on November 19, 1927, on Green Street, Woodbridge NJ. She died peacefully at home with her family by her side, on February 19, 2024, at the age of 96.
She loved school, but had to quit when her father died, to help her mother at the family restaurant.
Marion met the late Andrew Anderson at the restaurant on Main Street, in Woodbridge. They were married at the Woodbridge United Methodist Church on September 14, 1947, and moved to Church Street, Woodbridge, where they raised their two daughters that were the joy of Marion's life.
Marion was very involved in the Methodist Church, where she enjoyed helping in the kitchen, behind the scenes and the Women's Group. She also belonged to the Port Reading Senior Citizens and volunteered at Saint James Food Pantry for many years.
Marion was predeceased by her husband, Andrew L. Anderson, Jr., in 1998; parents, Charles and Marian Jackson Pappas; sister, Anna Barany; and brother, John Pappas.
She is survived by her daughters, Hope Poliansky, and her husband, Walter and Faith Hackett, and her husband, Thomas; her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife, Jaime, Hope and her husband, Josh, Jonathan and his wife, Lauren, Andrew and his wife, Heather, and Charity; and great-grandchildren, Oliver, Poppy, Lily, Jack, Andy, Ozzy and Charlotte.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024 10:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Interment will follow at Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy. Visiting hours will be on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Saint James Food Pantry, 174 Grove Street, Woodbridge NJ 07095, where Marion loved volunteering would be greatly appreciated by her family.
