Obituary

Mario T. St. Marie passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 98 years old.

Born in Hopelawn on January 10, 1926 to the late Lillian and Paul St. Marie, he was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School and a lifelong resident of Perth Amboy. He was a communicant of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish, Hopelawn.

Mr. St. Marie was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving as a Corporal with the 18th Tank Battalion in Central Europe.

He enjoyed all sports, but especially baseball. He played for the Clovers and Briggs AA Semi-Pro baseball teams that won the Semi-Pro Crown in 1950. He also started the Most Holy Rosary Little League and coached local teams.

He was employed as project manager with Zack Painting Company in Fords for over fifty years and was a member of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.

In addition to his parents, Mr. St. Marie was predeceased by his beloved wife, Victoria Ciuffreda St. Marie, in 2014; and sisters, Marie Mazza and Annette Petrenka.

Surviving are his loving daughter, Barbara Schladale and her husband, Steven, of North Brunswick; brother, Frank St. Marie, of Woodbridge; and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Parish, Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hopelawn. Entombment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Good Shepherd Parish, Most holy Rosary Church in memory of Mr. St. Marie.
