Mario Michael Falar passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington. He was 84 years old. Born and residing in New York City for 33 years, he then moved to Woodbridge where he became a communicant of Saint James Church for 32 years and finally settled in Lakewood 16 years ago. There he regularly attended the Church of the Visitation. Mr. Falar was employed as an Electrical Designer with Bell Labs in Manhattan for 9 years, and with American Cyanamid Corporation in Linden for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1995. Mario was a United States Army veteran, stationed in Germany during the Korean War and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal, Germany. He belonged to the 526th Military Intelligence Service Company. Additionally he served honorably in the Army and Air Force Reserves for 11 years. Mr. Falar, was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Rita Theresa Tiné Falar, in 2014. Surviving are his daughter, Marie Erhard, and her husband, Peter, of Bremen, Germany; his son, Michael Falar, and his wife, Carole, of Flemington; and three granddaughters, Laura, Theresa and Giovanna. Funeral services will take place on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
