Marilyn C. Hoban McElroy passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at her home in Woodbridge, NJ. She was 77 years old. Born in Scranton, PA, she attended Marywood Seminary, and has resided in Woodbridge since 1955. She was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge. Mrs. McElroy was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Gerald J. McElroy, in 2004. Surviving are four daughters, Eileen Popovich of Woodbridge, NJ, Susan Sherman of East Northport, NY, Erin Surowitch of South Amboy, NJ and Rosemary Gatto of New Egypt, NJ; a son, Gerard McElroy, of Chesapeake, VA; two sisters, Joan Byrne of Scranton, PA and Karen Healy of Cooper City, FL; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Resurrection will take place on Monday, February 18, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Saint James Cemetery, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge.
