Marilyn Jeannotte (née McElroy), born on January 24, 1945, in Jersey City, New Jersey, passed away peacefully under hospice care, surrounded by love, on April 5, 2026.

Marilyn was a proud graduate of Christ Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her degree and began a lifelong career dedicated to caring for others. She worked as a nurse for many years, bringing compassion, strength, and quiet dedication to those she cared for.

Marilyn appreciated the simple comforts of life. She enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, especially Jeopardy! and loved reading. She also had a fondness for a good western omelette always light on the peppers. She found comfort in familiar routines and everyday pleasures.

She was predeceased by her parents, William Aloysius McElroy (1987) and June McElroy (1947).

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Nicole Paternoster; her son-in-law, Dan; her granddaughter, Aeryn; and her grandson, Orlando. She will be remembered by those who knew her.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026 11:15 am at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge.  Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Be the Change NJ, a nonprofit organization dedicated to community service and activism projects. The organization is entirely volunteer run, with every dollar collected going directly back into the community. Donations can be made via Venmo @BetheChange-NJ.
