Marie Elena Novak passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Parker at River Road Nursing Center in Piscataway.  She was 79 years old.

Born on October 28, 1942 in Perth Amboy to the late Minnie and Carmen Ferrisi, she was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge.

Marie Elena was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge. She was employed as an office administrator for the office of doctors Wolfman & Goldberg in Edison for many years before her retirement.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Robert R. Novak, in 2011.

Marie Elena fiercely loved her family and was a loyal friend to all. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, skiing, and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She played MahJongg with the same group of friends for over 40 years. This group included her life-long friend, Beverly Trask.

Surviving are her daughters, Kim Dabrowski and her husband, Adam, of Neshanic Station and Wendy Alonso and her husband, Tirso, of Basking Ridge; and granddaughters, Devyn and Jenna Dabrowski, and Olivia and Ava Alonso.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 6, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green St. (at Barron Avenue), Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:00 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, June 5, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
