Marie J. Gruskiewicz passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was 91 years old. 

Born on May 26, 1934 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to the late Mary and George Soltis, she was a graduate of Sacred Heart Slovak School and Coughlin High School, there. She then resided in Woodbridge for many years before moving to Edison 42 years ago. Mrs. Gruskiewicz was employed in sales with Stern Brothers Department Store at Woodbridge Center for many years prior to her retirement.

She was a devout Catholic and communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge for 60 years. She enjoyed music, dancing, Atlantic City, Broadway musicals, word puzzles and, Slovak Heritage and especially, spending time with her Grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Vincent S. Gruskiewicz, Sr., in 2011; and daughter, Paula Gruskiewicz Garman, in 2005.

Surviving are her children, Joanne Gruskiewicz Parry of Aberdeen, Vincent S. Gruskiewizc, Jr. of Edison and Stephen Gruskiewicz and his wife, Pia, of Edison; son in law, Chris Garman; grandchildren, Devin Parry, Danielle DiMare and her husband, John, Mil Gruskiewicz, Stefan Gruskiewicz, Marlee Kiernan and Christian Van Heest; and beloved great grandson, Dean DiMare.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Saint James Cemetery, Woodbridge. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) in Mrs. Gruskiewicz’s memory would be greatly appreciated by her loved ones.
