Maria Marta Oquendo passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 86 years old.

Born on February 23, 1939 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to the late Juana Rosado Echevarria and Jesus Santiago Rivera, she resided in Cape Coral Florida before moving to Piscataway this year.

Mrs. Oquendo retired after 24 years from Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.

Surviving are her loving husband of 65 years, Tomas Matos Oquendo; five children, Robert Oquendo of Camden, Ray Oquendo of Somerset, Idalis Oquendo-Tatis of Keasbey, Edwin Oquendo of Woodbridge, and Tommy Oquendo of Cape Coral Florida; eight grandchildren, Yecenia, Marta, Isabel, Emilio, Christina, Amanda, Edwin Jr. and Tommy Jr.; and one great grandchild, Elijah.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.
