Obituary

María Dolores Ibietatorremendía passed away on June 19, 2022. She began her life on February 9, 1927 in the small town of Jagüey Grande, in the province of Matanzas, Cuba. She came from humble roots, born to José María Ibietatorremendía and Isidra Navarro, and had two brothers, José and Lázaro, both deceased. She studied and became a Spanish teacher and counselor, married Ernesto Fernández,  and emigrated to the United States in the early 1960s, settling in Rahway, New Jersey. María Dolores has four surviving children: Eduardo Fernández and wife, Alice; Lourdes Fernández; Maria Bachman and husband Daniel; Beatriz Tomlinson and husband Richard. Aba, as she was known to many, was blessed with six grandchildren: Paul; Kaila and husband Fed, Amy and Marielle; and Lyndsay and Maria. She loved the company of family and friends, and the simple joys of life like reading recipes in magazines and traveling. She touched the lives of her family, relatives, and friends in the community and was sustained in her faith throughout the years by "El Grupo".

Our mother was a beautiful, kind, and loving person - a true matriarch and a pillar of strength. She was the sort of person that always made you feel like you were special. She touched many lives and will forever be in our hearts. Praise God.
