Maria "Mary" Ducsak passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at JFK Medical Center. She was 90 years old. Born in Woodbridge, New Jersey, she resided in Avenel all her life. Early years of employment include Merck and Company, Rahway, and Graphic Controls. She retired from Union Memorial Hospital, Union, New Jersey after 25 years of service as the hospital switchboard operator.

She spent many years singing in the church choir at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Avenel. She worked as a volunteer at the local election polls for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending her time with her family and friends and pet companions dog, Ginger, and cat, Smokey. She loved to cook, especially for family events, crochet, and work on needlepoint gifts for others. She was an avid reader and loved to dance to waltzes and traditional Polish and Hungarian folk music.

Mary was a loving, caring, and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was very generous always giving to others. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Mary cherished her 50 years of marriage to her husband, Bela John Ducsak, who passed away in 2001. She is predeceased by her parents Charles and Mary Kosty and her sister Helen Samons.

She is survived by her sister Anna Mysak of North Carolina, her three daughters: Karen Abel and husband Richard of Parlin, Diane Horvath of Old Bridge, Linda Shea and husband Craig of Ivyland, Pennsylvania; and two sons: William Ducsak and wife Deborah of Stockton, and Michael Ducsak and wife Janine of Chesterfield; nine grandchildren: Kurt Abel and wife Cassandra, Shannon (Abel) Liana and husband Thomas, Courtney Abel, Kyle Abel, Paul Horvath, Cory Shea, William and Melanie Ducsak, and Michael Ducsak, II; and five great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Matthew, and Samuel Liana, and Patrick and Jane Abel.

Funeral will take place Tuesday, August 29, starting at 7:45 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. There is a mass at 9:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, 1140 St. Georges Avenue, Rahway, followed by funeral prayers at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at St. James Cemetery, Woodbridge.

Visiting hours will be Monday, August 28, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
