Margaret E. Szotak, 88 years of age, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, after a brief illness. She was born & raised in Elizabeth with her 4 brothers & 8 sisters. After her marriage, she lived in Rahway and in 1957 she & her family moved to the Port Reading, section of Woodbridge Township. Mrs. Szotak was employed as head teller with Summit Bank and Trust Company for 27 years before retiring in 1988. She was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Port Reading and was past president of the South Amboy Boat Club Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Szotak was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 2000; five sisters, Mary Fishbach, Geri Gluck, Gertrude Stefanik, Rose Swain, and Delores Mitricska; and three brothers, Richard Flynn, Dennis Flynn and Edward Flynn. Surviving are three daughters, Linda Ann Flynn and her husband, Patrick, Margaret Ann Harford and her husband, Douglas, and Jo-Ann Zsamba and her husband, Joseph; two sons, Joseph M. Szotak and Edward J. "Pete" Szotak and his wife, Rachel; three sisters, Ann Murphy, Frances Dickson, and Katherine Huffenus; a brother, Thomas A. Flynn III; eleven grandchildren Jason, Samantha, Nora, Anne, Julie, Karl, Brian, Stephen, Katie, Katherine, and Allison; and eight great-grandchildren Eric, Ethan, Ally, Patrick, Caleb, Colin, Hope, and Chelsea. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Port Reading. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
