Margaret I. Kovach passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Edison. She was 94 years old.
Born in Woodbridge on November 6, 1927 to the late Margaret and Albert Varga, she resided there for many years and then in McLeansville, NC for 11 years before moving to Edison 10 years ago.
She was married to Steven Kovach on August 21, 1948. They were each other's life-long companions and were blessed with three children.
Mrs. Kovach was an employee with K-Mart in Avenel from 1982 until 1992. She was a member who belonged to the Calvin Hungarian Reformed Church of Woodbridge where she served as a Sunday school teacher as well as an active member of the Lorantffy Guild.
She was an accomplished baker who donated her delicious cakes and desserts to many church functions
Margaret had many interests, among them crocheting, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, and keeping in touch with family and friends on social media. What she enjoyed most, however, was spending time with her grandchildren and cooking traditional Hungarian meals for her family.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Steven Kovach, in 2012; sisters, Irene Remenar and Eleanor Whartenby; and brothers, Bert Varga and Zoltan Varga.
Surviving are her sons, Bert Kovach and his wife, Jean of Julian, NC, Steven Kovach of Toms River and David Kovach of Edison; former daughter in law, Karen Kovach of Bristow, VA; grandchildren, Bert Jr., Diana, Danny, Gina and Steven; four great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Calvin Hungarian Reformed Church of Woodbridge. Interment will be in Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions to the Calvin Hungarian Reformed Church of Woodbridge in Mrs. Kovach's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
