Obituary

Margaret T. Hanley of the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. She was 88 years old.

Born in Newark, NJ, She resided in Elizabeth for 34 years before moving to Colonia 33 years ago.

Mrs. Hanley was a communicant of St. John Vianney R.C. Church in Colonia and a former communicant of Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church and Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church in Elizabeth.

Mrs. Hanley was employed as a Head Custodian for the Hillside Board of Education for 18 years where she was the first women in New Jersey to receive her Black Seal Boiler Operator's License before retiring in 1990.

She was predeceased by her husband Michael Hanley who passed away in 1984, Her parents James Mosher and Doris Wiedegreen Mosher, as well as three sisters Helen Lange, Mary Nee, and Dorothy Strojny, and her grandson Michael J. Hanley who passed away in 2014.

She is survived by six children Michael Hanley and his wife Barbara of Colonia, Patricia Walsh and her husband Richard of Colonia, James Hanley and his wife Jayne of Monmouth Junction, Kevin Hanley and his wife Debbie of Eatontown, Edward Hanley and his wife Rosemary of Iselin, and Kathleen Russello and her husband Thomas of Freehold; six grandchildren Edward, Nicole, Jennifer, Kelly, Michelle, and Amy; four great-grandchildren Gavin, Audrey, Brandon, and Riley; her extended Grandchildren Rosa, Danny, Tina, Michelle, Lauren, and Katelyn; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will take place Friday, February 10, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. Followed by a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. John Vianney R.C. Church, Colonia. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Newark.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
