Obituary

Madeline E. Raborn of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 surrounded by her loved ones after a brief illness at the Father Hudson Hospice in Elizabeth, NJ. She was 75 years old. Born in Newark, NJ; She resided in Avenel since 1965. Mrs. Raborn was a 1956 graduate of Eastside High School in Newark. She started her career with Conmar Zipper Company and held a number of administrative and retail positions for many large companies including Prudential Insurance Co., She retired from Pathmark Stores in 2000. She also enjoyed the work she did for the Middlesex County Board of Elections and was disappointed to miss the recent elections due to her health. She was a Communicant of St. Andrew's R.C. Church, Avenel; and a member of the Woodbridge Elks Lodge #2116 Emblem Club, St. Andrew's Altar Rosary Society, Woodbridge Reads Reading Recovery Program Volunteer, and The Woodbridge Lanes Monday Seniors Bowling League. Madeline devoted her life to her husband and family. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was a skilled seamstress. Through her talent for knitting and crocheting, she left many beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her loved ones. Rarely putting herself first, Madeline could always be counted on when someone needed help. She enthusiastically cheered for her children and grandchildren at school, concerts, sporting and other events. She was an avid reader and bowler. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and had amazing memories of her 1998 trip to Italy. She was predeceased by he parents James and Rose Biondi Sciarrone. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Martin L. Raborn, Sr.; Four children Joseph Raborn and his wife Kathy of Flemington, James Raborn of Flemington, Donna Bogdan and her husband Alex of Bridgewater, and Martin L. Raborn and his wife Adina of Livermore, California; eight grandchildren Matthew, Alexander, Emily, Victoria, Joshua, Seth, Brandon, and Jake. A Mass of Resurrection will take place 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Andrew's R.C. Church in Avenel. Interment will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at COSTELLO-KOYEN FUNERAL HOME (www.Costello-Koyen.Com) 399 Avenel St., Avenel.
