Louise Ann Ray passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. She was 84 years old. "Sweet Louise" was always regarded as a very caring and loyal daughter, sister, and aunt. She was loved by all.
Born in Jersey City, she resided there for most of her life before moving to Edison for 20 years and then to Middletown.
Miss Ray was employed with Verizon Corporation in Newark for 34 years, retiring as supervisor of accounting 30 years ago.
She was a communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Metuchen.
Louise was proud of the active life she led and was a world traveler. In her youth, she was captain of the girl's basketball team at Saint Aloysius High School in Jersey City. She retained her love of her hometown throughout her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, James F. and Kathryn Ray; sister, Kathryn Fallon; and brother, James Ray.
Surviving are her sister, Helen Byrne, of Middletown; nieces and nephews, Kathleen Grano and her husband, Gene, Christine Nyers and her husband, Richard, Ellen Mulreed and her husband, Tom, Joseph Fallon and his wife, Chris, and James Fallon; and great nieces and great nephews, Megan, Katelyn, Lauren, Jenna, Justin, and Morgan.
Funeral services will be on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:15 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assis Cathedral, Metuchen. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
