Lorenzo DiCostanzo passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 85 years old.
Born on January 1, 1938 to the late Dolorinda and Giorgio DiCostanzo in Ischia, Italy. Immigrated to Brooklyn, NY in 1956 where he was employed with Local #1814 of the International Longshoreman's Local before retiring in 1997. He then moved to Iselin, New Jersey to be closer to all of his children and grandchildren, where he's lived for the past 23 years. During retirement, he was able to do the things he loved the most. Gardening, watching horse races, playing bocci with his grandchildren, and his many trips to the casinos.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Dolorinda LoGrande, in 2020; grandson, Lorenzo Casella in 2020; and sister, Loretta DiMeglio, in 2022.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Immacolata Piro DiCostanzo; his children, Anna Santamaria and her husband, Angelo, of Iselin, Rosa Casella of Parlin, George DiCostanzo and his wife, Christine, of Ringoes, Maria Weinstein and her husband, Adam, of Colonia; And Son-in-law Anthony LoGrande of Woodbridge. Grandchildren, Salvatore Casella, Tina Casella, Maria Gencarelli, Christina O'Leary, Michelle LoGrande, Camille Monaco, Joanna Santamaria, Douglas DiCostanzo, Gregory DiCostanzo, Lauren Weinstein, Alex Weinstein and Michael Weinstein; and great-grandchildren, Richard, Annabelle, Giuliana, Olivia, Angelo and Antonio. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Frank DiCostanzo of Brooklyn, NY, Rosa Deleonibus of Florida, Salvatore DiCostanzo of Florida, Angela DeNardo of New Jersey and Anna Geritano of New Jersey.
Visitation for family and friends will be on MONDAY , November 6, 2023 at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge from 4:00 p.m. concluding with a 6:45 pm prayer service.
A prayer service will take place on WEDNESDAY , November 8, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Mausoleum of the Crucifixion, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia.
