Lester Bartus passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at his home in Edison. He was 89 years old.

Born in Makkoshotyko, Hungary on July 19, 1933 to the late Fani and Andrew Bartus, he came to the United States in 1947 and resided in Carteret and then in Woodbridge for many years before moving to Edison.

Mr. Bartus was employed as an auto body repairman with Dobbs Auto Body in Springfield for many years and retired from Expert Collision in Elizabeth.

He was a longtime member of the Calvin Hungarian Reformed Church of Woodbridge and had served as Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 78, BSA in Woodbridge.

In addition to his parents Mr. Bartus was predeceased by his sisters, Edith Kardos and Frances Kara; and brothers, Daniel Bartus, Joseph Bartus and Bundy Bartus .

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ilona Rezsek Bartus; sons, Richard L. Bartus, William J. Bartus and Lester Bartus, Jr.; sister, Julia Dorko; 2 grandchildren; 9 nieces; and 4 nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, November 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Calvin Hungarian Reformed Church of Woodbridge. Interment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
