Leora Cronin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in Tucson, AZ. She was 89 years old. Born in Union City, she resided in Saddlebrook before retiring to Tucson. Mrs. Cronin was a graduate of Atlantic City Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her degree as a registered nurse. She worked for over 40 years in hospitals throughout Bergen and Passaic counties. She will always be remembered for her love and dedication to family, friends and the many patients she cared for over the course of her nursing career. Mrs. Cronin was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, John Cronin; her parents, Elsie and Thomas Smith; two sisters, Elsie Worsley and Adele Libonarti; and two brothers, John and Thomas Smith. Surviving are her beloved daughter, Deirdre Howarth and her husband, James; grandchildren, James John Howarth and Allison Vivas and her husband, Ernesto; and great grandchildren, Liana and Maya Vivas. Visitation will be on Monday, June 22, 2015 from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
