Lawrence Rand, Sr. passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 91 years old.

Born in Woodbridge, he resided in Sewaren for many years.

Mr. Rand was employed with Perth Amboy Coal and Oil for 20 years as a service man before his retirement in 1990.

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and belonged to T. Nulty Post 471, American Legion, Iselin

Mr. Rand was predeceased by his wife, Ella, in 2010; daughter, Elaine Marie Chellin; and sister, Edith Lemasewski.

Surviving are his children, Lawrence Rand, Jr. of Edison, Marilyn Smolynec and her husband, Edward, of North Brunswick and Bonnie Arabatzis and her husband, Greg, of Westfield; three grandsons; and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to NJ Veterans Home at Menlo Park, 132 Evergreen Road, Edison, NJ 08837 in Mr. Rand's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
