Lawrence J. Notchey's Obituary
Lawrence J. Notchey passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 76 years old.
Born in Hopelawn, he has resided in Avenel the past 50 years.
Mr. Notchey was employed as a driver with Almasi Trucking in Woodbridge for many years prior to his retirement.
He was a communicant of Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge; a member and former Exalted Ruler of BPOE Elks Lodge 2116, Woodbridge; was an active member and Captain of Avenel First Aid Squad; and had served as coach for the Port Reading Saints football team.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia Karl Notchey; three daughters, Lori Jensen of Woodbridge, Shari Mattern of Clarks Summit, PA and Jill Taraska of Woodbridge; a son, James Notchey, of Attleboro, MA; two sisters, Barbara Choma of Selbyville, DE and Mary Kay Doucette of Pasadena, CA; a brother, Alex Notchey, of Woodbridge; and eight grandchildren, Matthew, Kristen, Brian, Michael, Steven, Christopher, Margaret and Josephine.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. from the Costello-Koyen Funeral Home (www.costello-koyen.com), 399 Avenel Street, Avenel followed with a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to BPOE Elks Lodge 2116, Special Children's Committee, 665 Rahway Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 in Larry's memory would be appreciated.
