Lawrence A. Kostyc entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 22, 2013 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 75 years old. Born in Carteret, he resided there before moving to Edison 44 years ago. Mr. Kostyc was employed as an engineer with M&T Chemical in Rahway and Merck & Company in Somerset for many years and then as a consulting engineer with various other companies before his retirement in 2002. He was a communicant of Divine Mercy Parish, Holy Family Catholic Church in Carteret, where he sang with the choir for many years. Mr. Kostyc enjoyed the company of his Old English Sheepdog, Gracie; and greatly missed his deceased Old English Sheepdogs; Barnaby, Benjamin and Peter. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Valerie Nelson Kostyc; two sisters, Theresa Krawcheck-Lenk of South Plainfield and Florence Kostyc of Carteret; two nephews, John Krawcheck of Port Reading and Kenneth Krawcheck and his wife, Stephanie, of Jackson; and three grandnieces, Bridget, Brenna and Nicolette Krawcheck; and a grandnephew, Kenneth Krawcheck, Jr. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish, Holy Family Catholic Church, Carteret. Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
