Born in Elizabeth, NJ on January 20, 1946 he was raised in Linden, NJ where he attended St. Theresa School. He was active in church activities from a young age, serving as an Altar Boy in Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Linden. Mr. Konecny was a graduate of Linden High School, Class of 1964 and went on to Central Missouri State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in 1970. He began his career working for Avis, eventually managing the rental car company at both Newark and LaGuardia Airports. Learning the pool business while working for Blue Ribbon Pools and Spas in Linden, he went on to start his own swimming pool company, Atlantic Pools.

Valuing continued education, Mr. Konecny earned his Master's degree from Jersey City University and was employed for many years as a math teacher by Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High School in Piscataway. He also belonged to the New Jersey Educational Association.

Moving to Woodbridge 35 years ago, Mr. Konecny was a longtime communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge, where he served as Head Usher.

Mr. Konecny believed a "family" was comprised of those you love and those who love you in return. He was an accepting, tolerant, and open-minded individual who was always there to lend a hand, a tool, a piece of advice, or his expertise. He was generous with both his time and materials for all who needed it.

He knew every family connection and taught the next generation about those who came before him.

He will be deeply missed.
