Kathleen Patricia Costello of the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit.  She was 58 years old.

Born in Elizabeth, she was a lifelong resident of Avenel and Colonia.

She was a 1983 graduate of Colonia High School.

Mrs. Costello was employed with Public Service Electric and Gas Company for 15 years before leaving to raise her "Boys".

She was a lifelong communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel and was active in the Saint James Home School Association in Woodbridge while her children attended there.

Kathleen enjoyed watching sports on television and was often heard screaming at the hapless Dallas Cowboys and New York Mets, her favorite teams. She also enjoyed fun times surrounded by family and friends in the backyard, grilling, swimming and laughing; and the companionship of her favorite feline, Chloe.

Mrs. Costello was predeceased by her parents, Aniel and Margaret Raine Goodheart.

Surviving are her husband of 27 years, Thomas F. Costello; sons, Thomas Aniel Costello and Matthew Joseph Costello; sisters, Margaret Muir and her husband, James, of Avenel; Alice Sinatra and her husband, Frank, of Colonia; brothers Neil Goodheart and Joyce DiNardo of Sewaren, Joseph T. Goodheart of Avenel and John Goodheart and his wife, Gina, of Chatham; her mother of the heart, Judith Roberts, of Woodbridge; brother-in-law, Patrick Costello and JoAnn Williams, of Edison; nieces and nephews Patrick Muir, Briana Smith, Julia Sinatra, Sarah Goodheart, Erin Sinatra, Emma Goodheart and Ava Goodheart.

Funeral services will begin on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 9:15 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home 44 Green Street (at Barron Avenue), Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel.  Interment will be in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Contributions to Frederick Farm Goat Rescue and Sanctuary, 12 Sholam Road, Napanoch, NY 12458 in Kathleen's memory would be greatly appreciated and appropriate given her unofficial "Crazy Goat Lady" status.
