Joyce E. Schmitt passed away peacefully at her home in Woodbridge, NJ on Friday, February 5, 2021. She was 75 years old.

She was born on April 7, 1945 in New Brunswick, New Jersey and was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge Township.

She graduated from Woodbridge Vocational School and became a Stewardess for Mohawk Airlines. On November 30, 1968 she married her lifelong partner Peter G. Schmitt who passed away on April 28, 2016. They welcomed 2 beautiful children Lori and Jim who was the most important part of both their lives. Joyce was a devoted mom to both her children. Later on, she worked as a receptionist at University Radiology in Metuchen for more than 20 years before retiring in 2005.

Joyce truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a devoted member of Saint John's Episcopal Church in Sewaren, NJ and was an active member of the Daughter's of the King and Altar-Guild.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Peter G. Schmitt and her parents James and Relda Szenasi.

She is survived by her children, Lori Mitros and her husband, Gregory, of Pequannock, NJ and James Schmitt and his wife, Josephine, of Woodbridge, NJ; sister, Cheryl Nagy, of Ewing, NJ; and grandchildren, Brandon, Bethany, Zoe, Derek and Daniel and his wife, Jean.

Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge, NJ 07095. The funeral will take place on Tuesday February 9, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. at Saint John's Episcopal Church in Sewaren. Burial will take place at Cloverleaf Memorial Park at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Saint John's Episcopal Church, 17 Woodbridge Avenue, Sewaren, NJ 07077 in Mrs. Schmitt's memory would be greatly appreciated by her family.
