Josephine "Josie" Gelesky of the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. She was 89 years old. Born in Bethlehem, PA, she resided in Avenel for the past 54 years. Mrs. Gelesky was an executive secretary with Topps Baseball Cards in Brooklyn many years ago. She was a longtime communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel, where she served as sacristan for 25 years and belonged to the Altar-Rosary Society. She also belonged to the Polish Falcons Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Gelesky was predeceased by her husband, Teddy Gelesky, in 1980; a daughter, Irene Buonanno, in 2006; and by three sisters, Julie Zatorski, Mary Zatorski and Laura Sikorski. Surviving are two sons, Michael Gelesky and his wife, Donna, of Colonia and Peter Gelesky of Avenel; a daughter, Adryenne Butkovsky and her husband, Steven, of Brick; and 4 grandchildren, Stephanie, Justin, Michael and Kyle. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. from Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Interment will be in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Doylestown, PA. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
