Josephine Austria passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. She was 86 years old. Born in New York City, she resided in Staten Island before moving to Woodbridge in 1971. Mrs. Austria was employed as a clerk with Revlon Corporation in Edison for 15 years before retiring in 1994. She was a communicant of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Avenel. Josephine was predeceased by a sister, Marie. Surviving are her beloved husband of 58 years, Rosario Austria; a daughter, Rosalie Galasso and her husband, Bill, of Lakewood; a son, Richard Austria, of Woodbridge; three sisters, Antoinette, Rita and Rosie; three brothers, Russ, Rosario and Louie; a brother in law, John Austria and his wife, Martha; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Avenel. Entombment will be at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
