Joseph L. Sokolowski passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater. He was 88 years old. He was born in Perth Amboy, he resided in Woodbridge for most of his life. Mr. Sokolowski was a Mechanic and Pipefitter with Chevron Oil Company in Perth Amboy for 39 years until his retirement in 1989. Joseph was an avid music lover and played trumpet in various local bands throughout his lifetime and was a member of the US Army band. In addition to being a United States Army veteran of World War II, he played for the Baker Boys Baseball Club in Perth Amboy in the 1940s. Mr. Sokolowski was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Finan Sokolowski in 2008; and a sister, Eleanor Pelc. Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Mucisko and her husband, Daniel, of Piscataway and Joanne Parkes and her husband, Donald, of Flemington; a son, Joseph Sokolowski and his wife, Kelley, of Branchburg; a sister, Jeanette Sorbo, of Carteret; and four grandchildren, Gregory, Natalie, Zachary and Katy. Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:00 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge. Interment will be in Saint John's Cemetery in Perth Amboy. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
