Joseph Pasek passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was 96 years old.
Born in New York City, he has resided in Woodbridge for 60 years.
Mr. Pasek was a United States Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War before retiring from Army Intelligence in 1969. Among the decorations he was awarded are the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal with 4 Loops, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Ribbon with 60 Device and two Vietnamese Honor Awards. He also was employed as a Supervisor with American Smelting and Refining Company and as a Dispatcher with the Woodbridge Police Department.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4410 in Woodbridge and T. Nulty Post 471, American Legion, Iselin.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Mester Pasek, honored mother to his children, Elizabeth Simmons of Fords and Joseph F. Pasek of Woodbridge.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home ( www.costello-greiner.com ), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. Interment will follow at Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
