Joseph Beda Parmar passed away peacefully in the early morning on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at his home in Woodbridge, New Jersey. He was 88 years old.

He was born in Karamsad, Gujarat, India on March 22, 1934 to the late Beda Devaji Parmar and Agnes Beda Parmar. While concluding his studies, he joined the workforce as a teacher and later went on to become a revered principal. To better his and his family's lives, he migrated to this United States in 1983 at the age of 49. After spending 22 years in Jersey City, Joseph, with his wife, moved to Colonia to live with his youngest son. After residing there for 2 years, they moved to Woodbridge in 2006 to live with their eldest son.

Joseph wore many hats. He spent his retired life continuing his lifelong mission of volunteer services as a social worker and philanthropist. His goal and purpose was to aid any person – no matter their age, background, or religious belief in assimilating into the United States. His life's work revolved around helping individuals with legal, immigration, citizenship, and social security questions and concerns. He went above and beyond to support all who came to him for counsel. The testimonies of the lives he's affected are far too many to count. His calling was to serve his community. The role and impact he has had on Indo-American communities nationwide cannot be summed into words. The foundation he has built and legacy he leaves behind lives on through his beloved family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sushila Joseph Parmar, in 2011.

Surviving are his children, Jagadish Christian, Minaxi Sharma, Nilaxi Jakaria, Ketan Christian and Kalpesh Christian; brother, John Beda Parmar; grandchildren, Parth Sharma, Harsh Sharma, Mitchell Jakaria, Rodney Christian, Rachel Jakaria, Christine Christian, Stephanie Christian, Kevin Jakaria, Ashley Christian and Sydney Christian; and great grandchildren, Samarth Sharma and Dhriti Sharma.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, 149 Grove Street, Woodbridge. Interment will follow in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, 53 Inman Avenue, Colonia. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Josh Charity Foundation Inc., 144 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Woodbridge, NJ 07095 in Mr. Parmar's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
