Joseph P. Clayton passed away on Friday, February 26, 2016 at his home in Woodbridge. He was 70 years old.

Born in Newark, he has resided in Woodbridge for most of his life.

Mr. Clayton was employed with Supermarkets General in Avenel for 35 years retiring in 1996 and the New Brunswick Board of Education for 10 years retiring from there in 2011.

He was a member of Teamsters Local #863, Mountainside.

He was predeceased by his wife, E. Melissa Curry Clayton, in 2008; and a sister, Margaret Clayton.

Surviving are a daughter, Kimberly Vena and her husband, Fredrick, of Woodbridge; a son, Joseph G. Clayton and his wife, Theresa, of Hollywood, FL; and grandsons, Tyler Jorge Clayton and Corey James Vena.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Entombment will follow in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
