Joseph S. Cecere passed away at his home in the Sewaren section of Woodbridge Township on Sunday, June 2, 2013 with his family at his side. He was 92 years old. Born in Hoboken, Joseph spent most of his life in North Bergen before moving to Sewaren 7 years ago. Joseph was a retired longshoreman and a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Mary Lodato Cecere (2002). Surviving are his beloved children, Louis and his wife, Jane Ann, of Kearny, Joseph and his wife, Christine, of Wood Ridge and Nora and her husband, James Dorward, of Sewaren; and sisters Frances and Ida. Joseph was also a loving grandfather and great grandfather and cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Route 35, Woodbridge under the direction of Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, 44 Green Street, Woodbridge. Interment will be private in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
