Joseph L. Brutko, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at his home in the Avenel section of Woodbridge Township surrounded by his family and friends. He was 64 years old.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he has resided in Avenel for 35 years.

Mr. Brutko was a graduate of John F. Kennedy Memorial High School, Iselin, class of 1974; and employed with General Motors Corporation in Linden for 30 years before retiring in 2006 as a lineman. He was also an active volunteer with the Barron Arts Center in Woodbridge.

He was predeceased by his mother, Ann M. Kubichek; father, Joseph L. Brutko, Sr.; and stepfather, Steve Kubichek.

He is survived by his sisters, Joanne C. Levan-Powlus of Bloomsburg, PA (husband Kent), Karen Majek of Scotch Plains (partner Ken Mentzel) and Betty Jo Palmer of Perth Amboy (husband Norman); brother of the heart, Richard Sepulveda of Avenel; stepmother, Betty Brutko, of Perth Amboy; loving nieces and nephews (Rob, Steve, Chris and Scott LeVan; Kaitlyn and Brian Majek; Christopher Brutko and Danielle Palmer); caretakers Charlene Todd, Asila Addotta, Gary Minucci, Beatrice Mandycz, Tommy and Jenny Whalen and Liz McEntee and many other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Costello-Koyen Funeral Home, 399 Avenel Street, Avenel. Entombment will follow in Saint Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
